Madame Chiang Kaishek Dies

Sunday October 26, 2003
Soong May-ling married Chiang Kaishek, the leader of China, in 1929. Having been educated in the U.S., she used her English skills to appeal to the U.S. for aid for China during World War II. In 1949, her husband's regime was ousted by the Communists and she and her husband fled to Taiwan. After her husband's death in 1975, Madame Chiang Kaishek moved to the U.S. On Thursday, October 23, she passed away at her home in New York at age 105. See photos of Madame Chiang Kaishek.
