Preserved Bodies of Three WWI Soldiers Found in Ice
Sunday August 29, 2004
Located over 11,000 feet high on the icy San Matteo mountain in Italy, the remains of three Austrian soldiers from World War I were spotted by Maurizio Vincenzi, a member of the local rescue team and an amateur historian. The bodies (photo) were well preserved in the ice and were found with their uniforms, a gas mask, a hat, bayonets, and a water bottle. The three soldiers mostly likely were killed by a grenade during a September 3, 1918 battle. Two of the bodies will be buried in an Austrian military cemetery while the third will be given to a museum in Bolzano, Italy for research.

I’m sorry, this article didn’t say if next of kin was notified or not. I’m sorry, but if one of those soldiers found were my Grand or Great-Grand father I wouldn’t let them “research” on them. That is completely disrespectful. Why would you want to “research” them? Let the dead rest in peace with a name above them.
