NASA's Day of Remembrance

By February 1, 2005

Follow me on:

On Thursday, January 27, NASA observed their Day of Remembrance to honor all of their astronauts that have been killed. Since 2004, the agency has dedicated the last Thursday of every January to the agency's "three darkest hours," which all took place around this time of year: the Apollo 1 fire during a countdown test at the launch pad on January 27, 1967; the Challenger launch accident on January 28, 1986; and the Columbia re-entry disaster on February 1, 2003.
