Atomic Testing Museum Opens
Sunday April 17, 2005
In development since 1997 and the first of its kind, the Atomic Testing Museum opened its doors in late February in Las Vegas, Nevada. The new museum, located just off the Las Vegas strip, focuses on the work performed at the Nevada Test Site (the U.S.A.'s principal continental nuclear weapons testing facility from 1951-1992) and the role the site played in history. The museum is operated by the Nevada Test Site Historical Foundation and is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution.
