Mayor Daley Opposed Vietnam War

Despite the violent riots that plagued his city during the 1968 Democratic National Convention, historians say that Chicago mayor Richard J. Daley was very much opposed to the Vietnam War. The late mayor had more in common with the protestors than most imagined; the mayor personally opposed the war for a year prior to the riots.
