Pestering Prostitutes
Wednesday November 2, 2005
Recently released papers from Scotland Yard reveal that some British officials were seriously concerned about prostitutes in London preying on American soldiers during World War II. The officials were concerned that American-British relations after the war might be harmed if many American soldiers went home with venereal diseases. Officials were also concerned that Nazis might use this information in a propaganda attack; by describing British women as loose, British soldiers would worry about their wives back home.
