Smithsonian Rescues Katrina History
Sunday December 25, 2005
The Smithsonian Institution is attempting to rescue and preserve items related to the history of Hurricane Katrina. This is the first time the museum has made an effort to create a collection related to a natural disaster. Curators and photographers from the museum have been working to discover and document items related to the disaster. While the Smithsonian has no current plans to display the items they're collecting, they did display a small selection of their September 11 collection on the first anniversary.
