Houdini to Be Exhumed?
Thursday March 29, 2007
After the recent release of the new book The Secret Life of Houdini by William Kalush and Larry Sloman, questions have again been raised over the exact cause of magician and escape artist Harry Houdini's death on Halloween in 1926. For decades, it has been reported that Houdini died from peritonitis after suffering from a ruptured appendix. This new book suggests that Houdini was murdered - by poison.
Houdini's grandnephew, George Hardeen, wants Houdini's body exhumed to check for poison. However, relatives of Houdini's widow plan to oppose an exhumation.
