Theft at the U.S. National Archives
Wednesday April 4, 2007
A 40-year-old intern at the U.S. National Archives has apparently been stealing Civil War documents and then selling them on Ebay. The theft was discovered when some of the records on Ebay were recognized by a Civil War book publisher. The intern stole 164 documents and had already shipped out nearly half of them to the high bidders when the theft was discovered. Luckily, all but three of the documents have already been recovered. The intern, who has pled guilty, could face up to ten years in jail and a hefty $250,000 fine.

Mike Musick used to control the Archives’ Civil War records. Is he still there? Who hired this intern?
