40th Anniversary of Martin Luther King's Assassination
Monday March 24, 2008
April 4, 2008 will mark the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. When I realized it has been 40 years since his death, my first reaction was that it just doesn't seem that long ago. In part, this may be because Martin Luther King Jr. and his ideas are still pervasive in schools, in discussions, and in life. However, 40 years also seems like a relatively short period of time as well. It reminds us that it has been less than a generation since schools and society were segregated and how much farther we have to go to really create an equal society.
What thoughts does this anniversary bring up for you?

As An example of the REPUBLICAN PARTY plans to maintain control at any cost; Beginning with Nixon a Southern plan to appeal to the ultra right wing of that region has been sucessful. Since Nixon, the new Solid South elects republican presidents and their conservative allied states still appoint judges to further the right wing agenda. When the Republican party realized that they could not appeal to the minority and in some cases the female voters they sold out to appeal to the southern racism element. Racism is still alive and well in this country – Obama or Clinton wil never be elected President.
