Mussolini's Car Sold

Tuesday March 25, 2008
Italian dictator Benito Mussolini was often filmed riding around in his 1935 Alfa Romero 6C 2300 Pescara Spyder. Although Mussolini had his two-door, convertible Spyder specialized by adding horsepower, he never added bullet-proof glass or plating. Mussolini's Spyder, one of only 60 ever made, recently went up for auction. Although it was expected to sell for around £800,000, the highest bid barely came to half of that. The seller decided to hang on to the car rather than sell it for such a low price until they got another offer for £550,000 (about $1.1 million).
