Nazi Pictures Show Allied Bombing Raid Damage

Tuesday July 22, 2008
Recently, 3,000 pictures of German cities were found in a wooden trunk that had been tucked away for decades in an attic. Nazi architect Albert Speer had commissioned the pictures, taken from 1943 until 1945, in order to have documentation to help him rebuild Germany's cities after the Nazis had won World War II. The pictures were aerial photos of numerous German cities, taken before and after Allied bombings. These pictures reveal a Germany that was centuries old and full of history. Since the Nazis lost the war, reconstruction efforts focused on quick-to-build, utilitarian buildings rather than ones that would replicate what was lost. These pictures reveal a historical Germany that is now gone.

Sad for Germans and for world heritage. These pictures must come out in public domain for history’s sake. Why cant these be used architechturally even now?

Due to the fact that the cost to rebuild the cities like Berlin to her former self, or even the samll towns is an cost, Germany alone can’t afford to pay.

Don’t Forget that Britian, France and Holland amonst many other countries also suffered.

Publish the pictures along with those of the Allies.

It is not one sided even though it is tragic
