Piece of Charles and Diana's Wedding Cake Sold
Tuesday September 2, 2008
After Charles and Diana's royal wedding in 1981, Moyra Smith (a staff member at the Queen Mother's Clarence House) wrapped up a piece of cake in plastic wrap and placed it in a tin. Twenty-seven years later, this piece of cake went up for auction. Despite the fact that only the top of the piece of cake survived (the icing and marzipan decoration displaying the royal coat of arms), the piece of wedding cake sold for £1,000 ($1,819).

Last week they sold Queen Victoria’s bloomers, and this week it’s a piece of cake from Diana’s nuptials. I recognize the concept of bread and circuses, but the present day has lost its mind over nothing.
It’s best if people re-examine the follies of the past by looking at the old photos and old portraits of the past.Much of fashion or history is not worth preserving.
