Gandhi actually acted as a British propped Indian leader who was very clever to have charted a course for wresting control over people’s upsurge for independence in a manner that appeared to be a battle his style to throw out the British but in reality only buying time for the English to avert an armed uprising which would have collapsed the Allied front against the Japanese apart from leading to a bloody revolt which would have had an adverse impact on Allies in Europe too.His ‘non violent’ tool was a willy invention which took the British with a pleasant surprise and they went along with it.This also ensured a lasting link with colonial master through perpetuation of its legacies and influences which would have been torn apart were there to have been a revolution. Through this ruse striking at gullible and superstitious masses, Gandhi who was himself from a merchant class struck the final nail in the coffin of nationalism in Indian society, ousting Subhash Chandra Bose from the scene. The latter advocated and died working for a resurgent India ,raised the Indian National Army and disagreed with Gandhi’s methods. The sub continent is bearing the fruits of this today
