TIME Chooses 2008 Person of the Year

Since 1927, TIME Magazine has chosen a man, woman, or idea that "for better or worse, has most influenced events in the preceding year." On December 18, TIME announced their choice for the 2008 Person of the Year -- Barack Obama. The runners-up this year were Sarah Palin, Henry Paulson, Nicolas Sarkozy, and Zhang Yimou.
