New Pinochet Museum
Monday December 22, 2008
To many people around the world, General Augusto Pinochet is best remembered as the brutal dictator of Chile (1973-1990) who had over 3,200 of his own people tortured and killed. However, there are a few of Pinochet's admire him for saving Chile from communism and for strengthening Chile's economy. It was some of these followers that recently created a new museum in Santiago, Chile dedicated to Pinochet.
The museum, which opened on December 12, 2008, consists of four rooms filled with mementos from Pinochet. On display in the Pinochet museum are Pinochet's uniform, his desk, medals, books, and even a collection of hundreds of toy soldiers.

Comments
Except for extremists, life seldom is black or white, but grey shaped. Same thing for the Pinochet Legacy.
Except: under left wing pressure Pinochet is the South American Satan and former Allende is seen as the Chilean Obama. Alas!
Chile was virtually bankrupt when Allende committed suicide (yes!). When Pinochet stepped down (a democratic tradition which isn’t uphold in say Cuba or Zimbabwe), he left the economically most performant country on the continent.
Nevertheless, corruption and unjustice are undenieable at the height of the Pinochet reform (say 1974-1979).
Pinochet: a sinner and a saint!
I am a chilean and i agree with the last comment about a sinner and a saint.
In favour:
-Economy
-Peaceful transition to democracy
-Order in the country and defeat of communism
Mistakes:
-Human rights
But allende was a close friend and admirer of general Castro and the Soviet Union.(not the best people in this world)¿what could we expect?
