Transcripts of Kissinger's Phone Calls Now Available

Thursday January 1, 2009
From 1969 to 1977, Henry Kissinger taped all of his incoming and outgoing phone conversations and then had his secretary transcribe them. Although Kissinger never intended for these records to become public, the National Security Archive pressured the government to reclaim these records in 2001. Over 30,000 pages of transcripts, covering 15,500 phone calls, have been cataloged and indexed so that they are searchable. Although several of the Kissinger conversations can be found online at the Digital National Security Archive, one must become a member to have access to the full collection of transcripts.
