In connection with the 70th anniversary of the Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact, Russia has declassified secret documents about the pact. The Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact was the agreement between Germany and the Soviet Union that stated the two countries would not attack one another. This allowed Germany to attack Poland, thus starting a war with France and the United Kingdom, yet not have to worry about the possibility of a two-front war.
The documents that were recently released attempt to show that Russia had no choice in the matter because they believed themselves to be unsupported by the West. Find out more about what these documents reveal in this Guardian article.
