July 18, 2009 was also the launch of the inaugural Mandela Day in New York. Events included the Mandela Day concert, a 46664 celebration, where international artists – including Alicia Keys, Cyndi Lauper, Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban and Whoopee Godlberg – came together to show their support.
The 46664 Bangle initiative http://www.theBangle.com also supported Mandela Day week and several artists were seen wearing the 46664 Bangle bracelet.
