A National Park for Manhattan Project Sites?

By December 13, 2012

Follow me on:

There's a new plan before Congress to establish a national park for a number of sites related to the concept and construction of the atomic bomb. These sites are spread across three states (New Mexico, Washington, and Tennessee) and were all related to the Manhattan Project.

Personally, I think the park plan is wonderful, but there are others who don't agree. Some people are against the idea of this new Manhattan Project National Park because they feel that we, as a country, would be celebrating a weapon of mass destruction. What do you think?

For more information about the project, see the Atomic Heritage Foundation website.

Ask any GI vet. who was facing a determined Japanese enemy, ready to die for his country come what may, whether he thought that the atom bomb should never have been made or dropped at the time! It saved his life and ended the war….. I say establish those parks!
