Efforts to Create a LGBT Museum in Washington DC

By January 17, 2013

Follow me on:

Tim Gold and his husband, Mitchell Gold, are trying to gather both artifacts and donations to establish a national LGBT museum in the Washington DC area to tell "a story that unites millions of women and men but is rarely represented in mainstream museums." Although they are still far from reaching the $50-$100 million needed to establish the museum, the Golds have already established a non-profit organization to collect donations and hired a real estate broker to search for the right property to place the museum.

If you are interested in reading more about the intended museum or would like to make a donation, please see their official site. If you would like to know more about the Golds, this Washington Post article talks about how they came up with the idea for the museum as well as why it is so important to have a museum dedicated to LGBT history.
