Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have joined up to create a new biopic about legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson, the man who broke baseball's color barrier. Written and directed by Academy-Award winning screenwriter Brian Helgeland, 42, whose name is in reference to Robinson's jersey number, will star Chadwick Boseman as Jackie Robinson and Harrison Ford as Dodgers General Manager Branch Rickey.
The new film is set to open on April 12, 2013, just in time for Major League Baseball's Jackie Robinson Day, which is held on April 15 in honor of the day that Jackie Robinson broke MLB's color barrier in 1947. For a sneak preview, be sure to check out the official movie trailer for 42.
