History of the Academy Awards

The 7th Academy Awards - 1934

By , About.com Guide

The seventh Academy Awards ceremony was held on Wednesday, February 27, 1935 at the Biltmore Bowl of the Biltmore Hotel. When the nominees were announced for this year, a large number of people protested the absence of Bette Davis (Of Human Bondage) and Myrna Loy (The Thin Man) for best actress. Because of the protests, the Academy temporarily changed its rules to allow write-in votes. Still, neither of these two women won for best actress this year. Irwin S. Cobb hosted the ceremony.
