The twenty-fifth Academy Awards ceremony was held on Thursday, March 19, 1953. The venue was divided between the RKO Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles (hosted by Bob Hope) and the NBC International Theatre in New York (hosted by Conrad Nagel). The winners were divided between the two cities. For the very first time, the Awards ceremony was televised.
