The 51st Academy Awards - 1978

The fifty-first Academy Awards ceremony was held on Monday, April 9, 1979 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Los Angeles Music Center. During the event, both John Wayne and Laurence Olivier made an appearance and both commanded standing ovations. The evening's program was hosted by Johnny Carson.
