The seventy-second Academy Awards ceremony was held on Sunday, March 26, 2000 at the Shrine Auditorium. Disaster struck the Academy Awards even before they started this year. On March 8, the Oscars were stolen while in transit to the Academy. Just a week before the event, the Oscars were found by Willie Fulgear in the trash behind a laundromat. Billy Crystal hosted the event.
